Sculptural Tea Pots
These sculptural tea pots started off due to an exhibition that was a tea pot show based on the animal of year from the Chinese calendar. A spark was lit and I have since then kept exploring and experimenting along this theme.
Making a tea pot is a task in itself – you need a perfect pot, spout, handle, lid and then keep your fingers crossed that post firing it pours well without any drips. It seems so serious, stern and rigid.
Its great to let go sometimes. To make a serious piece humorous in a way…. To give it a whimsical appearance and still have it work as a perfect tea pot. Still serve its purpose minus the rigidity that it can sometimes have.
