Explorations
My journey with clay is one of constant discovery, where I’ve ventured beyond conventional boundaries to formulate my own unique clay bodies, each with distinct personalities and possibilities. Through patient experimentation, I’ve developed intimate relationships with different clays – understanding how each responds to my touch and transformation.
In my studio, forms emerge from this deep material knowledge, as I push the boundaries between function and sculpture, allowing each piece to evolve through intuitive dialogue between hand and clay. The surfaces of my work tell complex stories through layers of texture and glaze, where I’ve developed my own recipes that create depth through multiple firings and unexpected interactions.
These explorations have led me to discover glazes that break and pool like ancient glaciers, surfaces that capture the roughness of weathered stone, and finishes that shimmer with the depth of ocean waters. Each piece becomes a landscape of its own, inviting touch and contemplation, revealing new details with every viewing.
